September Task Team Focus: Measuring National EO Capacity

An innovative approach to assessing country-wide Earth observation capabilities will be featured September 18/19 at the quarterly meetings of EOTEC DevNet’s regional Community of Practice (CoP) task teams.

The Earth Observation Maturity Indicators (EOMI), a tool developed through the EU-sponsored e-Shape project, offers government decision-makers a structured approach to exploring strengths, weaknesses and gaps in EO and geo-information capabilities.

The indicators consider the stakeholder ecosystem, the enabling infrastructure, EO uptake across different domains, partnerships, and the innovation environment. An interesting aspect of EOMI is the way it visualizes results in “maturity cards.”  Join us to learn more about the method and hear from national partners how it has been implemented in Africa, Latin America, and other parts of the world.

In addition to the EOMI spotlight sessions, we’ll share information on EOTEC’s activities, updates from other CoP members, and capacity building resources.
