Another image highlighting the continuing drought conditions in areas of South America, this time of a town in Argentina.
This comparison of Copernicus Sentinel-2 images, acquired on 11 March 2025 (left) and 1 March 2026 (right), shows the visible impact of drought in the city of Rosario, which is located in the agricultural heartland of Argentina.
The region is home to extensive soybean and maize fields that contribute significantly to the country’s grain exports. However, prolonged drought and unusually high temperatures have reduced soil moisture and threatened agricultural productivity across thousands of hectares.
EOTEC recently shared an image of fires in neighboring Chile, also affected by dry conditions.
