July Meetups: Flood Forecasting and Early Warning in Focus

Join our July 9/10 flood meet-ups for region-specific conversations on innovations in flood forecasting, early warning and anticipatory action. Along with presentations of innovative tools and platforms, we will hear from experts about efforts to engage communities and build integrated flood management capacity. 

Initiatives to be presented include: 

Africa region –  July 9 (13:00-14:15 UTC)

  • VOLTALARM, flood early warning platform in the Volta basin
  • TEMBO Africa, flood early warning pilot in Kenya and Ghana

Americas region – July 9 (16:00-17:15 UTC)

  • MapBiomass, a platform with extensive surface water and flooding mapping capability

Asia-Oceania region – July 10 (04:00-05:15 UTC) **Note: meeting on MS Teams**

Europe region – January 9 (14:00-15:15 UTC)

  • EO4Flood, an initiative to predict floods more reliably by improving the accuracy and timeliness of hydrological and hydraulic models.

Other agenda items: updates on EOTEC flood and drought tool trackers, beta testing for EO needs assessment guidance, and more. Don’t miss out!

As always, there’s time planned for member contributions – please come with updates on capacity building activities, research needs, updates from your agency/organization, or anything else relevant to the working group.
