The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is an intergovernmental partnership that promotes open, coordinated, and sustained data sharing for the benefit of humanity. GEO works to improve the availability, access, and use of Earth observations to inform policy and decision-making across various sectors.
Central to GEO’s mission is the Capacity Development Working Group (CD-WG). The CD-WG focuses on enhancing global capacities to access and use Earth observation data and technologies. It aims to strengthen skills, knowledge, and infrastructure, particularly in developing countries, to ensure equitable access to Earth observation resources. Through training programs, resource development, and collaborative initiatives, the CD-WG supports communities worldwide in leveraging Earth observations for sustainable development, disaster resilience, and environmental management.
