Committee on Earth Observation Satellites

The Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) coordinates civil space-borne observations of the Earth. CEOS strives to enhance international coordination and data sharing to support Earth observation for societal benefit.

A key component of CEOS’s mission is the Working Group on Capacity Building and Data Democracy (WGCapD). WGCapD focuses on improving access to Earth observation data and fostering capacity building worldwide. It aims to promote data democracy by ensuring that all countries can benefit from satellite data, particularly for sustainable development and disaster management. Through training, educational resources, and collaborative projects, WGCapD empowers global communities to effectively use Earth observation data for critical decision-making and environmental stewardship.
