Using Earth Observations for Pre and Post-Fire Monitoring

In this 2-part training, participants will review pre-fire risk assessments by investigating land surface and climate variables, conduct post-fire mapping of burned area and burn severity using vegetation indices such as the Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR), and assess fire risk and post-fire mapping and monitoring for effective management and decision-making. There will be hands-on-exercises and “lab time”.
