The 8th WCC-SF6 Training and Education Course

The 8th World Calibration Centre for Sulfur Hexafluoride (WCC-SF6) Training and Education Course will take place from November 4th to 8th, 2024, hosted by the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences (NIMS) under the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). This course offers a comprehensive blend of both theoretical and hands-on training in observing key greenhouse gases and tracers at monitoring stations. It will be conducted in collaboration with central facilities of the World Meteorological Organization’s Global Atmospheric Watch (WMO/GAW) and led by experienced researchers actively engaged in the GAW Programme.

This year’s course will cover the theoretical foundations of spectroscopy and gas chromatograph, along with practical training on measurement instruments such as CRDS for CO2 and CH4, OA-ICOS for N2O and CO, and GC-ECD for SF6. Participants will engage in hands-on calibration exercise using real data. In addition to technical training, they will also gain valuable insights from seasoned researchers with extensive experience in greenhouse gas measurements.
