Introduction to Satellite Images

This short online course provides basic satellite knowledge for interpreting 3 single satellite channels: one visible, infrared long wave (IR) and one WV. Since this is an introductory course , it must be highlighted that satellite images are a diagnostic tool and care must be taken not to infer erroneous information. The course consists of: a brief description of GOES 16 features , description of each channel and the physical processes involved, activities to recognize different atmospheric features, an example of each channel and questions.
