The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) is both a research institute and a 24/7 operational service, producing global numerical weather predictions and other data to its Member and Co-operating States and the broader meteorological community. We support National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NHMS) in issuing warnings though providing forecast products and tools to support operational forecasting.
This webinar will showcase key ECMWF products including ensemble-based products, the Extreme Forecast Index (EFI), and ecPoint, highlighting their role in supporting the issuing of warnings. It will also provide an overview of tools ecCharts and OpenCharts, which facilitate access to ECMWF forecast products and data. Additionally, recent developments—such as machine learning-based products—will be highlighted, showcasing how ECMWF continues to enhance forecasting capabilities and decision-making for high-impact weather events.
