AWOS Installation, Maintenance and Operation

The purpose of this course is to give a general view and information to the trainees about the basic features, essential components and capabilities of an AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System). In addition, it will be discussed how such systems can contribute to the improvement of the service capacity and product quality of the meteorological services. Furthermore, the transition process from conventional observing instrumentation to the automated observing systems by considering the ban on the manufacture, import and export of products containing mercury after 2020 in accordance with Minamata Convention.
