Call to Action: Role of EO in Mapping and Forecasting Natural Disasters

On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are reaching out to you and your organization with a Call to Action titled “Role of EO in Mapping and Forecasting Natural Disasters” (https://science.eo-college.org/cta-eo-disaster/) to join a collaborative effort in developing an online course focused on the use of Earth observation technologies in the context of natural hazards and disasters. The European Space Agency (ESA) has contracted the EO College platform team to coordinate and integrate mutual efforts for the creation and implementation of learning materials on this important topic.

ESA acknowledges the urgency and importance of enhancing educational capacity and training opportunities in the field of natural hazards and disasters. Moreover, we recognize the substantial body of existing resources and the ongoing contributions of various entities in this field. In light of this, ESA is pleased to announce the sponsorship of a grant to support a coordinated effort among CEOS WGCapD members and other stakeholders. This initiative aims to compile available materials, conceptualize a unified online course, and implement it on the EO College platform.

We invite you to participate in an initial online orientation workshop where we will gather ideas, negotiate a thematic focus, and explore potential commitments from your organization, whether by providing learning materials or human resources to support the project.
