Overview​

The Earth Observation Training, Education, and Capacity Development Network (EOTEC DevNet) is a network of networks bringing the power of satellite-derived Earth information to more users around the globe. 

Created in 2021 by a group of space and meteorological agencies, our global community today includes scientists, educators, capacity building professionals, and subject matter experts.

Secretariat

Erin Martin

Erin Martin is a strategic communications and program management specialist who works with partners on challenges related to climate change, health, food security, and resilience. A former journalist and US Senate press secretary, Erin has spent more than 2 decades living and working in the Global South. She has designed and facilitated dozens of conferences and training activities and helped create an online guidebook for NASA on best practices on Earth Science applications. Erin holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Stanford University.

Christian Reyes

Christian Reyes is a member of the EOTEC DevNet Secretariat and consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton since 2021 specializing in design, strategy, and management consulting. In addition to his work in the EOTEC DevNet Secretariat, he also supports the NASA Capacity Building Program within Earth Science acting as its international networks representative in groups such as CEOS and GEO. Prior to his employment at Booz Allen and work with NASA, Christian worked for Deloitte doing technical consulting for the Defense Health Agency within the US Department of Defense supporting medical application migration and sustainment coordination. From a young age Christian enjoyed making social connections and forming networks in his various sports, music, and social clubs- so much so, to further understand the nature of social human behavior and motivation so he sought a degree in Psychology at the University of Virginia.

Martyna A. Stelmaszczuk-Górska

Martyna A. Stelmaszczuk-Górska is a postdoctoral research associate at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany. She is an experienced project manager and expert in Earth observation with a demonstrated history of working in higher education, public administration, and industry. Martyna has spent more than 15 years working in the European COPERNICUS programme, in various projects developing applications and promoting the use of Earth observation in environmental monitoring. Since 2018, she has been looking for innovative ways to improve the user uptake of space data through new education and training actions and initiatives. She holds a PhD degree in Earth observation from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, Master’s in Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics and Engineering Geology and Bachelor’s in Geology degrees from Warsaw University, Poland. She graduated in Innovation Management from Warsaw School of Economics.

Leadership Partners

CEOS coordinates civil space-borne observations of the Earth. CEOS strives to enhance international coordination and data sharing to support Earth observation for societal benefit.
EO College is a digital learning hub for Earth observation and remote sensing, offering open educational resources and online courses for learners worldwide.
GEO is an intergovernmental partnership that promotes open, coordinated, and sustained data sharing for the benefit of humanity. GEO works to improve the availability, access, and use of Earth observations to inform policy and decision-making across various sectors.
UNOOSA is the UN entity responsible for promoting international cooperation in the peaceful use and exploration of space.
VLab is a collaborative initiative between the World Meteorological Organization and the Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites.
WMO ETRP is dedicated to enhancing the global capacity to observe, understand, and predict weather, climate, and water-related phenomena. The program focuses on building the competencies of meteorological and hydrological personnel through formal education, specialized training, and continuous professional development.

Thematic Partners

The IDMP supports governments and other stakeholders at all levels on implementing Integrated Drought Management by providing policy, technical and management guidance and by sharing scientific knowledge and best practices.
