Short-range NWP and data assimilation

The general objective of this short course is to provide the basic concepts of numerical weather prediction (NWP) models and data assimilation focusing on the convective scale. The lectures will cover the current status and challenges of short-range precipitation forecasts, along with some interesting applications.
There will be lectures in Spanish and English.

PREVENIR is an international cooperation project between Argentina and Japan, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) program. The Japan institutions involved in the project are RIKEN Center for Computational Science, the University of Osaka, the International Center for Water Hazards and the Japan Meteorological Agency, and Argentinean institutions are the National Meteorological Service, the National Water Institute and the National Research Council.
