The objective of this short course is to provide tools for the analysis of disaster risk components in order to strengthen the approach to all dimensions in decision-making processes as well as in research studies. The institutional framework of Disaster Risk Management in Argentina and the social vulnerability component will be studied in depth through the identification of analysis indicators. Strategies for the incorporation of geospatial and cartographic information will also be presented.

PREVENIR is an international cooperation project between Argentina and Japan, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) program. The Japan institutions involved in the project are RIKEN Center for Computational Science, the University of Osaka, the International Center for Water Hazards and the Japan Meteorological Agency, and Argentinean institutions are the National Meteorological Service, the National Water Institute and the National Research Council.
