June Task Team Focus: Getting Earth information to more users

Capacity building plans and activities including inclusion strategies will be the themes of the June 19/20 meetings of EOTEC DevNet’s regional Community of Practice (CoP) task teams. Touching on gender and social inclusion, community engagement, and outreach, experts will share their experience and insights on ways to deliver the power of Earth observations to more users.

The sessions will vary from region to region. Speakers include:

• Africa: Nico Kroese, South Africand Weather Service, on the WISER Early Warnings for Southern Africa initiative and efforts to engage underserved communities in early warning systems 
• Americas: María José Molina, Central American Aerospace Network (Red Aeroespacial Centroamericana or RAC), sharing lessons on engaging women and girls in geospatial technologies
• Asia Oceania: Cheenaporn Meechaiya and Susantha Jayasinghe of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center on gender and social inclusion and Early Warning/Early Action efforts in the Southeast Asia region
• Europe: Andreas Wirth, EUMeTrain Project Manager, on training plans, and Thierry Ranchin, Scientific Coordinator of the EuroGEO Secretariat Project, on EuroGEO plans and activities

In addition to the spotlight sessions, we’ll share information on EOTEC’s activities, updates from other CoP members, and capacity building resources.
