Marine Weather Forecasting Course, RAI-Africa (Classroom phase)

Notice, after evaluating the current global risk situation due to the COVID pandemic and the consequent travel restrictions, the organising committee has decided to cancel the face to face classroom event scheduled in November 9-13, in Pretoria, South Africa. Instead, this phase will be delivered through online environment, using online communication tools and local installation of data visualisation s/w.

This is follow-up event for online Marine Weather Forecasting Course.

The course organised in partnership by NOAA and EUMETSAT will focus on the application of satellite data (scatterometer, altimeter and RGB products) to marine wind and wave forecasting.

The objective of the course is to equip marine forecasters and trainers in marine meteorology with the knowledge and skills to use wind and wave data in their forecasting or training. The secondary purpose of the course is to better understand the operational realities of marine forecasters in Africa, what training needs there are and the regional capacities to meet those needs.
